Resolution

We offer scanning resolution up to 19200 dpi. Please keep in mind that the image quality and sharpness of scans made using our machines will be greater at 2000 dpi than with other scanner types even at 4000 dpi. This is possible due to the structure and inherent properties of the drum scanner as well as a very rigorous approach to regular and proper maintenance.

Shadows

When it comes to photoresistant materials, there is no way to achieve a higher level of detail and colour depth from the darkest areas of a picture than via drum scanning. Additionally, the outcome is noise-free, a significant issue with CCD- converter scanners – where those scanners create grainy and smuggy stains, our drum scanners manage to produce high-quality images.

Sharpness

Thanks to the unique properties of drum scanners, the images are perfectly sharp on the entire surface of the scan. The film is mounted do the acrylic drum with a special liquid and tape – or, in certain cases, when we wish to highlight the grain of the photosensitive mateiral, a dry method using only tape is utilized. Either way, the scans are done in a manner that is geometrically perfect. The scan will be as sharp as Your exposure, and cannot be any sharper.

High contrast edges

High Contrast edges can be quite a big issue that will impact the observers perception of an image, especially in terms of sharpness. It is worth noting that our scanners do not produce imagines with a "flare effect". Image from drum scanner is clean with high contrast edges without haloes.

Chromatic aberations

Our images are not plagued with issues linked to chromatic abberation – if You ever notice these problems, please keep in mind that it was an inherent issue of the delivered materials and has nothing to do with the scanning process. Drum scanning capture each pixel one at a time and hence avoids this problem.
